Community Handbook of Information and Services
The handbook includes community resources for youth and families in the Minnetonka Public Schools area and includes information about resources such as: child care, education, family services, transportation, and voting. K12@U Web Site
A new web site at the University of Minnesota will help students to discover opportunities to spark their interests, families to find summer camps and exciting places to visit on University of Minnesota campuses, and pre-12 educators and administrators to find innovative classroom resources and high quality professional development. The site is designed to offer easy access to more than 180 activities, courses, and programs at the University that are available to the K-12 community—a one-stop shop for students, parents, educators, and others interested in the U’s support for E-12 education across Minnesota.
Meld: Parenting That Works
Meld is a national non-profit family service organization based in Minneapolis. Meld has been making a positive difference for 30 years in the lives of families with children—nurturing the crucial connections between parents and children by building skills, knowledge, support systems, and confidence. Through this work with Meld, parents get what they need to raise nurtured, competent children.

Teen Pregnancy Prevention: The National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy
The National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy website has many good resources. The guide that you can download, provides insights from research about parental influence and offers tips on how parents can help their children delay sexual activity and avoid pregnancy. Published by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, the guide includes findings from a survey of adolescents ages 12-19 to examine what adolescents want adults to know. The guide is designed specifically for parents to help them help their children make good decisions about sex, love, and relationships. Download the guide here.
West Suburban Teen Clinic
The mission of West Suburban Teen Clinic is to promote the physical, social, and emotional well-being of adolescents and young adults by providing community and individual education, confidential counseling and medical services to assist them in making responsible health decisions. The purpose of West Suburban Teen Clinic is to offer youth ages 12 to 23 comprehensive, professional, and low-cost medical, mental health and health education services.

Substance Abuse
Tonka CARES
Established in 2005, Tonka CARES is a community coalition working to reduce illegal substance use among youth in the Minnetonka School District. Tonka CARES partners include the Minnetonka Public Schools, local law enforcement, businesses, youth serving agencies, faith communities, youth and parents. We envision a community where youth will choose not to use illegal substances and will feel supported and valued for their choice by the entire community.

National Inhalant Prevention Coalition
One of five students in America has used an inhalant to get high by the time he or she reaches 8th grade; inhalants can include household products as common as paint thinner, rubber cement, or hairspray. Many parents, though, are not aware that inhalants are cheap, legal, and accessible products that are as popular among middle-school students as marijuana.
